I Built an Image-to-Excel Tool After Being Tired of Re-Typing Tables

This started with a very familiar moment.

It’s almost 6pm.
You’re about to close your laptop.
Then your boss drops a message:

“Can you put these invoices / scanned tables into Excel?”

You open the images:

  • slightly blurry
  • crooked photos
  • broken table borders
  • random fonts and numbers

And then the usual workflow begins:

  • type row by row
  • zoom in, zoom out
  • double-check every number
  • still get asked:

“Are you sure this one isn’t missing a zero?”

I tried existing image-to-Excel tools:

  • table structure gets messed up
  • OCR mistakes like 8 → B or 0 → O
  • batch processing is basically unusable

Then I experimented with AI-based OCR.
The recognition quality was much better, but:

  • uploading images one by one
  • writing prompts
  • copying results manually

…was not something you want to do with 20 invoices.

So I built a small tool to solve one thing only:
turn table images into usable Excel files, with less pain.

Current flow:

  • Upload one or multiple images
  • AI OCR detects table structure and text
  • Preview the generated Excel
  • Download and move on

I mainly use it for invoices, receipts, printed tables, and screenshots.
The structure isn’t perfect in every case, but it’s far better than manual typing and good enough for real work.

Not a must-have tool.
But if you’ve ever spent your evening typing numbers from a photo,
this might save you a couple of hours — and maybe an earlier night 😅
